Instead of placement matches everyone is reverted to bronze 5, but you get gigantic bonus points proportional to your mmr. For example if you were a GM you will get a crazy amount of rank points from your first few games. Like 5000 or something, and then it will level off as you approach approximately the correct rank for your mmr. Keep in mind you wouldn't lose 5000 pts a game in any situation. This is purely for the sensation of ranking up. Anyway….
