Hello Guys,

What is your most disliked road junction ? And why ?

I think one would have to go a long way to beat the roundabout at the end of the M67………

The problem is two fold -

1 - The M67 (or a dual carriageway) was originally supposed to skirt round the back of Mottram then Tintwhistle and extend up Woodhead. That is a BUSY road because there is no other way across from Manchester to Sheffield. But they ran out of money (or will) and just ended the M67 at a roundabout from which two single carriageway roads emerge. Worse still the vast majority of traffic goes straight on, i.e. onto one single carriageway road which then hits traffic lights so it frequently tails back onto the roundabout…..

2 - Because it`s a roundabout a significant amount of traffic deliberately goes in the right lane (marked for turning right at the roundabout) jumps past most of the queue (in the correct left lane for straight on) goes right round the roundabout and is then able to "legitimately" force its way in at the front. Basically it`s carnage, we were queuing for about 20 minutes at 2.30PM on a Friday, i.e. not even rush hour ! It`s so bad that, until the long rumoured bypass gets built, I think they should replace the roundabout with a junction, at least it`d make queuing there fair.

I hate that junction so much I try to avoid it at all costs, but a look at the map shows that`s actually very difficult to do. I`m not generally in favour of building more roads (they just encourage more traffic) but the Mottram / Tintwhistle by pass would be an exception. We only have to use the M67 about once a month, if I had to use it every day I`d move house (or job), it`s that bad

Thanks

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
