So I have recently bought a cheap, but great used TV, and a ditto surround receiver. Both with online stuff - the receiver is AirPlay enabled so obviously I wanted it on my network, the TV semi-smart and although I am not using those features I figured I would update it. So plugged a network cable in, played waste management video and only later realised that I had not put in my network password, yet the tv went online effortlessly. Then I moved the network cable to the receiver, and same thing. Online with no password.
How can this be? All my other stuff, phones, laptop, Libratone AirPlay speaker, Apple TV etc make me go through hell to get connected, so how can some gadgets just bypass this?
