IT professionals have been joining computers to Active Directory (AD) for well over a decade now. The domain joining process has been like a rite of passage to any knew IT professional coming into their first tech job. Joining a computer to AD allows admins to bring that computer into the control of the organization through single sign-on (SSO) capabilities, group policy application and so much more. However, joining a computer to AD has traditionally been limited to computers on the internal network. Now, with Azure AD (AAD) and Windows 10, we are not constrained by on-prem limitations. We can now use the cloud to add a computer to a domain! In this article, we're going to show you how to add a computer to your AAD domain. But first, you'll need to meet a few prerequisites. First, I'm going to assume you have an Azure subscription and have also setup an Azure domain. Finally, you'll need a Windows 10 computer as this is the first Windows operating system to have this capability.
