I've been a Three subscriber for years and been very impressed with their geographic coverage and 3G speeds. However I've seen increasing capacity problems over the last few months in busy areas.

Normally this congestion appears as full signal strength but with speeds <0.5MB/s and ping times >800ms. Also in busy locations I see the base station forcing my mobile to disconnect from the network every 30 - 60 seconds, resulting in the device flipping between no signal and full signal as it disconnects and reconnects.

This isn't just a local issue. I've seen it happening in lots of places around London (Neasden, Islington, City, Canary Wharf), Huddersfield, Basingstoke, Maidenhead, etc. Performance in rural areas is great, 3 is clearly just completely saturated in urban areas.

I don't want a superfast connection, I just want something stable enough to load web pages reliably. Even 1Mb/s with ping times <100ms would be fine.

My question is whether EE 3G has less congestion? I know EE and 3 share masts, but do they have independent backhaul and would EE be less congested?

My mobile isn't 4G capable and I don't want to pay a premium for high 4G speeds.

Thanks,

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
