Here is the situation for China.
At least around me, most people who like coffee do not really like *$s. If consider the normal clients, maybe most of them like *$s, mainly for its name. In recent years, most people go to Maan Cafes in stead of *$s. That is a brand created by the Korean in China.
Within the coffee people, more people do not like *$s and neither their coffee.
There is another reason that most of those small and individual cafes make the coffee much worse than *$s.
