Can someone explain how Untangle handles spam filtering on port 25 vs port 587?

I have clients on the outside connecting to my mail server on my LAN, with UT in bridge mode between my router and LAN.
I'm seeing mail quarantined with a from: address of my clients, going to outside contacts of theirs. I'm seeing the client successfully connecting to the mail server, dropping off mail, and then seeing it on a quarantine list for the intended recipient outside our network.

I'm thinking this has to be related to port 25 vs 587 traffic. It is just a guess, though.
